The Department of Engineering of the University of Perugia requires adequate initial preparation in mathematics, verbal comprehension and logic for admission to the following bachelor's degree programmes:

  • Computer and Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Engineering Management

In accordance with Article 6 of Italian Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004, an mandatory assessment test is required to verify these requirements. The test must be taken by all students who intend to enrol in the above-mentioned bachelor's degree programmes.

The assessment consists in choosing and taking one of the following entrance tests, provided by the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems (CISIA) and recognised nationwide by all participating universities:

  • TOLC-I
  • CEnT-S

The Academic Office verifies compliance with the admission requirements by checking that the test has been taken.

Mandatory nature and outcome of the test

Taking the entrance test required for the selected degree programme is mandatory for all bachelor's degree programmes in Engineering.

The test result does not prevent enrolment.
If the minimum score thresholds are not met, the student will be assigned Additional Educational Requirements (OFA), in accordance with the regulations of the relevant degree programme.

Please note: failure to take the entrance test results in a block on registration for the first Mathematics-area exam, which remains in place until the entrance test is taken.

Important notice: For VISA applicants, passing the entrance test is mandatory and the test result must be uploaded as part of the Universitaly pre-enrolment procedure.

Passing score thresholds

The passing thresholds depend on the test taken and are defined as follows.

TOLC-I test
The TOLC-I test is considered passed only if both of the following conditions are met:

  • at least 14/50 as the sum of the scores obtained in the sections Mathematics, Logic, Science, Verbal Comprehension;
  • at least 7/20 obtained in the Mathematics section.

CEnT-S test
The CEnT-S test is considered passed only if both of the following conditions are met:

  • at least 10/35 as the sum of the scores obtained in the sections Mathematics, Reasoning on texts and data, Physics;
  • at least 5/15 obtained in the Mathematics section.
